Buckeye Lake: Sediment Removal and Safe Navigation - July 29, 2017

Sediment in front of the ESB will be removed from Liebs Island to Sellers Point by a dredge and placed in a dredge Material Relocation Area (DMRA) near Fairfield Beach to de-water.

Mt. Gilead: Work to resume on Upper Dam improvements

In recent weeks, workers have completed construction of the training walls and downstream wingwalls of the new dam and spillway structures. Placement of stilling basins and general maintenance of drainage were completed, along with excavating the downstream outflow channel below the Lower Dam. At the Upper Dam, the haul road has been improved and preliminary earthwork continued. In the coming weeks, workers will be finishing concrete placement at the dam gate control tower, begin placement of the Lower Dam embankment and other general construction items. Project completion is scheduled for the end of 2017.

Lake White: Water level drop still being analyzed; dam is safe

The dam remediation project consultant, Stantec, is performing a dye test in the lake as efforts continue to determine the cause of water movement that has prevented ODNR from operating the lake at full summer pool since dam safety improvements were completed in late April. Lake levels have remained nearly stable since ODNR lowered the lake level to winter pool in late June as a safety measure and to allow for full inspections of the earthen dam and lake levels.

Cutler Lake: Fish Removed, Lake Level Lowered As Construction Begins

ODNR has removed fish and lowered the lake level to prepare for the start of construction of improvements at Cutler Lake Dam in Blue Rock State Park. The fish were relocated to the nearby Muskingum River. The camper cabins, group camp, some campsites, and the picnic area and volleyball court on the west side of the camp store are closed for the duration of the project. All other park facilities at Blue Rock including trails, picnic areas, shelter houses and the camp store will remain open. The $4.3 million project is scheduled for completion in Summer, 2018.

Portage Lakes: Long Lake Dam, Project completion set for late summer

Workers recently completed construction of a new floodgate structure along Manchester Road at Long Lake. Additional work that includes improvements to an adjacent parking lot and public access is underway. Final project completion expected late summer.
