Lake White: Filter berm improvements planned for 2019

Posted on 4/8/2019 by Engineering in Lake White Dam
A bid opening was held March 8 for the filter berm improvements planned for the Lake White Dam remediation project. This filter berm will provide additional stability to the dam and a safe exit for any seepage or groundwater flow that may occur in this area.

Beaver Excavating Company was the company that received the contract for this project. On March 25, The State Controlling Board approved ODNR’s request to release capital appropriations totaling $4,627,164 to fund the project. Construction mobilization is scheduled for mid-April with project completion scheduled by the end of 2019.

On March 27, ODNR completed its visual inspection of Lake White Dam and downstream area. The lake level reading was 569.70 ft.  (Summer pool elevation is 572.74 ft.) Both spillway gates were 100% lowered. Incremental pool level raising begins in mid-April to allow the lake level to reach its summer pool.
