Buckeye Lake Dam Emergency Preparedness Steps Taken

On March 16, Ohio EMA and ODNR conducted an emergency preparedness meeting with state and local emergency management officials to discuss current emergency response plans and to encourage potentially impacted residents to be more prepared in the event of an incident involving Buckeye Lake Dam. The meeting was held in response to the recent report by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the conditions of Buckeye Lake Dam.

A number of items were discussed and a many opportunities for residents to increase their emergency preparedness are available. Sean Grady, director of the Licking County Emergency Management Agency, ( indicated that concerned residents should sign up for emergency alerts at so they can made immediately aware should an incident occur. The Ohio Emergency Management Agency will coordinate planning and staging exercises where state and local agencies can discuss dam emergency response and recovery plans.
