Buckeye Lake: Spring Construction Activities and Plans

Posted on 5/26/2017 by Engineering in Buckeye Lake Dam

Site preparation has begun this week; including trucking material from Liebs Island. To facilitate safe vehicular traffic and avoid damage to the road, traffic control measures will be active Monday through Friday and periodically on weekends. When there is no construction activity scheduled on the weekends, the traffic control lights will be set to a continuous warning (flashing yellow) and the orange barrels will be moved to the road edge.

Rendering of Phase II design.

Construction of a test section of the Phase II supporting buttress will occur in late June. After curing for approximately 30 days, samples will be taken for testing. Testing is necessary to confirm that the equipment is producing a structure consistent with the design (this is a routine procedure for these types of projects). Once testing confirms the structure is performing to design specifications, full-scale production of the supporting buttress will begin. The project remains on schedule to be completed in late 2018.

Please rememberthe berm is an active construction site, crossing the fence to the embankment stability berm is prohibited except for emergency responders and authorized personnel. Do not cross the safety fence for any reason! Individuals found trespassing on the berm may face criminal charges and/or fines.
