Buckeye Lake: Winter Water Levels and Phase 2 Planning

Posted on 9/26/2016 by Engineering in Buckeye Lake Dam

Beginning October 1, 2016 ODNR will begin to actively manage Buckeye Lake to maintain the target water elevation at "winter pool".

On March 1, 2017 the "stop logs" will be put back in place and the lake will be allowed to refill to no more than 1 foot below normal "summer pool".

Phase 2 dam construction is expected to begin in early 2017 following completion and approval of final design. Lake level management will return to normal levels after dam construction is completed. Normal winter pool at Buckeye Lake is 888.50 feet above mean sea level; the operational interim summer pool target level is 890.50 feet above mean sea level.

Please be aware: for your safety, crossing the fence to the Embankment Stability Berm is prohibited except for emergency responders and authorized personnel. Do no cross the fence for any reason.
