East Reservoir: Road Closure Not Part of Dam Repairs

Posted on 8/10/2018 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

The Summit County Engineer’s office has advised area motorists of its temporary road closure of North Turkeyfoot Road beginning August 13. This work is separate from the East Reservoir Dam improvements and is necessary for the county’s replacement of two culvert pipes under the roadway. Phase I work has required closure of North Turkeyfoot Road between Raceside Drive and Hottle Street August 13 to September 3. Phase II work will close North Turkeyfoot Road between East Long Lake Boulevard to Holman Avenue. The Phase II closure dates will be announced on the county engineer’s website after Phase I work is completed. Access to Hottle Street, Holman Avenue and Wagoner Street will be maintained throughout the project. Also, the detour route will be posted online which includes portions of Portage Lakes Drive, South Main Street and Warner Road. All work is subject to weather conditions. For additional information, please contact Summit County’s main office at 330.643.2850.

ODNR advises area residents that the presence of siphon pipes installed in early July through the south spillway at East Reservoir is a temporary water management system being used to control the release of water during construction. The siphons will be removed when the Cat Swamp is refilled and construction is completed late spring, 2019.
