Mt. Gilead: Substantial project completion due in December

Posted on 11/21/2017 by Engineering in Mt. Gilead Lake Lower Dam

Substantial completion of dam and spillway improvements at Mt. Gilead Lake is scheduled for December and expected to occur before Christmas. The new concrete labyrinth weirs are being poured and near completion. A similar spillway design also is being used on dam improvement projects at Indian Lake, Lake Loramie and Blue Rock state parks. The old parking lot asphalt and base has been removed in preparation for new paving. The earthen embankment has been reconstructed at the Lower Dam and regraded at the Upper Dam where additional structure improvements have been completed. Over the next 30 days, workers will have substantially completed the project. Some additional minor work, much of it including site improvements that include paving and striping of a new parking lot, seeding and mulching of ground areas, tree planting, signage installation, and additional park amenities will occur during winter into early spring.
