East Reservoir: Portage Lakes Drive Back to Normal Alignment

Posted on 12/17/2018 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

Motorists in the area of the East Reservoir dam improvements project will note that local traffic this week is returning to its original configuration. Previously, a 500-foot section of Portage Lakes Drive temporarily was realigned at North Turkeyfoot Road to allow for soil cement drilling in that area. Soil cement drilling is nearly finished for all three embankment sections, but will continue in some areas through the end of this month.

The temporary docks near the Clock Tower on the south embankment also will be removed to prevent ice damage. These were installed as an alternative water access solution for the affected Cat Swamp residents. The Cat Swamp should be refilled by late spring 2019 and t lake access again will be available for next boating season. Pouring the concrete cap over the soil cement structure placed through the Rosa Villa parking lot is nearly finished. The parking lot will be restored to its pre-existing condition and re-opened for use by the end of this month. Concrete repairs to the north spillway and concrete cap pouring over the soil cement structure at the north embankment will continue through the end of the month. Construction began late last year and is expected to continue through early summer 2019.
