East Reservoir: Filling Cat Swamp and Final Construction Activities in June

Posted on 5/24/2019 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

Cat Swamp Refilled
The Cat Swamp has been refilled and once final inspections are completed, access will return for the boating season. The Cat Swamp was dewatered last July to ensure dam safety during the construction of the new East Reservoir dam. Temporary docks were installed at the south embankment as an alternative water access solution. Expect a mailed and door-to-door notification before temporary docks are removed. Residents should transition to personal docks at the time of notification.

Final Construction Activities
Expect crews to be near the north, main and south embankments as they complete inspections, remove the turbidity curtain, and install protective rocks (rip rap), soil cover, and grass seed. Other construction details will be finalized through June. Watch for flaggers as Ruhlin moves heavy equipment offsite. Guard rail will be reinstalled once all equipment is removed.
