East Reservoir: Permits issued; construction gets underway

Posted on 12/19/2017 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

ODNR has received the required permits and workers have begun initial construction work to make improvements. Before the deep-soil mixing construction begins, work to build the sand berm on the south embankment across from the Clock Tower will continue through at least the end of December. The stability berm will provide the staging area for the deep-soil mixing equipment needed to build the new dam. ODNR says a turbidity curtain was placed to keep soil and sediment from new construction from getting out into the lake. It does not represent where the new dam wall will exist once completed.
