Indian Lake: Project approximately 70 percent complete

Posted on 11/16/2017 by Engineering in Indian Lake Dam

ODNR says the dam improvements and spillway replacement project at Indian Lake is approximately 70 percent complete. The remainder of the old spillway has been removed and workers now are excavating for construction of the eastern portion of the new spillway. A cofferdam and stability berm again are being used during this Phase II spillway construction as was done earlier this year with Phase 1 work on the western portion of the spillway. The cofferdam is a temporary enclosure placed across the water to allow the enclosed area below the spillway to be dewatered, thus providing a fairly dry work environment for the major excavating and spillway replacement work to proceed. Forms being used for the concrete pour of the new labyrinth spillway were being installed and initial concrete work remains underway. Project completion is Spring, 2018.
