Project work heading into final weeks

Substantial completion of dam and spillway improvements at Mt. Gilead Lake in Morrow County is scheduled for the end of 2017. Workers are near completion of rebuilding a new earthen embankment dam that will impound the lake. Work continues on finishing construction of a new spillway which features a labyrinth weir system. Also on the schedule is to install safety guardrails, a pedestrian trail, an information kiosk, park benches, fishing line collectors and a new kayak launch. Improvements also continue to be made on the lake’s Upper Dam that includes a recapped spillway and a safety guardrail and handrails.
