East Reservoir: Peak construction activity underway

Posted on 9/11/2018 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

Construction work is ongoing along all three earthen dam embankments at East Reservoir. Soil-cement drilling continues working toward the Rosa Villa parking lot, where the project team will tie into high ground. To complete the necessary work, the soil-cement drilling will need to cross Aqua Blvd. Expect Aqua Blvd. and the Rosa Villa parking lot to close at the end of this week temporarily until the end of 2018. Additional parking for Rosa Villa customers is available at Digital Palace and at 430 Portage Lakes Drive. Signs will be placed at these lots for easy locating. Those who live on Aqua Blvd. will still be able to access their homes via Durst Rd.

Workers continue to pour concrete which is a protective cap for completed soil-cement areas along the embankment. Work also continues at the Cat Swamp with demolishing of a concrete channel this week.

Along the south embankment, the protective concrete cap for soil-cement structure (the new dam) was poured. Starting this week, two-feet of soil cover will be placed over the protective concrete cap. A temporary bridge was previously installed to provide access to place the soil cover and will stay in place temporarily until early 2019. Along the north embankment, soil-cement drilling began late last week.
