Posted on 3/3/2014 by Engineering in Pond Lick Lake Dam

Renovations to the Pond Lick Lake Dam are currently in progress by Sunesis Construction Co., of West Chester. Included are improvements to the spillway. Construction is expected to be completed in Fall, 2014. Michael Baker Jr., Inc. is providing construction management oversight to ensure that the construction is conducted in accordance with the drawings and specifications. This will involve site inspections, progress meetings, and daily inspections during the construction of key components. The repairs will bring the dam up to current safety standards. Repairs will necessitate the temporary lowering of the lake level, installing a new spillway, and reinforcing the earthen structure with compacted concrete. A portion of Forest Road # 1 will be closed to the public from the intersection with Forest Road #2 west of Pond Lick Lake and Forest Road # 9 to east of the lake. The total estimated cost of construction is $2.7 million. ODNR Division of Forestry will perform some dredging in the upper reaches of the lake.
