Construction to improve East Reservoir Dam in Portage Lakes State Park is slated to begin early summer 2017. These improvements will reduce risk and improve safety. In our continued efforts to keep stakeholders informed throughout the project as well as solicit feedback,
ODNR has sent out a brief survey to area residents and businesses regarding construction of dam improvements at East Reservoir Dam at Portage Lakes State Park. The electronic survey can be accessed through April 21 at www.surveymonkey.com/r/portagelakes, for stakeholders to share their preferences on construction scheduling and communication.
ODNR will host a public information session on May 11 at its Division of Wildlife district office, 912 Portage Lakes Drive in Akron, to share information about the East Reservoir Dam improvement project and the pre-construction survey results, provide construction next steps and to respond to questions. Briefing times will be confirmed once we receive survey responses.
Separately, the Ohio EPA is conducting a public hearing April 27 6:00 p.m. at Portage Lakes Kiwanis Civic Center 725 Portage Lakes Drive Akron, OH 44319 as part of its process to issue a required construction permit to ODNR.
