Portage Lakes: Long Lake concrete work due as winter approaches

Posted on 12/8/2016 by Engineering in Portage Lakes
Work continues by replacing one half of the floodgate structure at Long Lake followed by replacement of the second half so that water flow can be maintained.

Work continues to make improvements to the Long Lake floodgate system at Portage Lakes State Park which are needed to meet current dam safety requirements. Sill plates, stop logs and vertical imbedments are soon to be installed. Concrete for a walkway across the top of the new structure and adjacent piers also are to be poured. Additional work will continue during winter weather as conditions permit. The project is scheduled for completion sometime in 2017.

Dam rehabilitation and improvement work is funded through the state's capital budget appropriations. The Long Lake project is due for completion sometime in 2017.
