East Reservoir: Barges in use as sand berm placement begins

Posted on 3/1/2018 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

A series of tests will be done from a small barge operating 15-40 feet from the shoreline within the area protected by the turbidity curtain for the upcoming sand berm placement and along the main embankment in the coming weeks.

Work will be done to finish preparing the stable platform on the berm along the south embankment. Upon completion, it will enter into a 2-3 week curing period. South of 252 Portage Lakes Drive, workers will begin building the sand berm along the main embankment. Project representatives provided construction updates on March 1 at the meeting of the Portage Lakes Advisory Council.
