Indian Lake: Spillway replacement nears final completion

Posted on 5/10/2018 by Engineering in Indian Lake Dam

Workers are hoping to be off the job site by the Memorial Day weekend as final completion of the dam improvements and spillway replacement project presently are at 98 percent. Removal of the Phase II causeway and cofferdam (east portion of the spillway) is underway and approximately half completed. Site grading, grass seeding and other project closeout items are scheduled for the next two weeks. The new labyrinth weir spillway is the second largest of its kind in the U.S. with a continuous span of more than 700 feet. The largest spillway of this type is located at Ute Dam near Logan, New Mexico.
