East Reservoir: South spillway rehabilitation underway

Posted on 6/15/2018 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

Workers this week began rehabilitation of the south spillway located near the Clock Tower, which includes installing new rebar and pouring new concrete. This work is expected to continue through the end of June. Deep-soil mixing (building of the new dam) on the main embankment is also expected to continue through June. Workers are now putting the concrete cap and parapet wall in place on top of the south embankment. Area stakeholders can expect that some construction noise near the Clock Tower will continue. Work hours at the project site generally occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, though these may be adjusted to meet project schedule needs. Expect traffic patterns to remain similar to recent weeks with occasional one-minute delays while work trucks are operating around 252 Portage Lakes Drive. Flaggers will assist motorists with traffic flow.
