East Reservoir: Traffic pattern shift to last through end of 2018

Posted on 11/19/2018 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

A 500-foot section of Portage Lakes Drive has been temporarily realigned at North Turkeyfoot Road to allow for soil cement drilling in that area of the East Reservoir Dam remediation project. Traffic is being maintained in both directions during the temporary detour, which will continue through the end of this year. Recent and continuing construction work includes:

  • Placement of riprap and loose stone to form a foundation for a breakwater at the south embankment near the Clock Tower;
  • Drilling in the main embankment near North Turkeyfoot Road and in the north embankment near the Cat Swamp along Portage Lakes Drive;
  • Pouring of a concrete cap over the soil cement structure that was placed through the Rose Villa parking lot, which will extend into December. Once completed, the parking lot will be restored to its pre-existing condition prior to construction and re-opened for use.

Construction began late last year and is expected to continue through early summer 2019.
