East Reservoir: Project work remains on schedule

Posted on 10/4/2018 by Engineering in Portage Lakes

Construction is ongoing along all three earthen dam embankments at East Reservoir and remains on schedule. A small portion of the work area known as the Cat Swamp, located adjacent to Portage Lakes Drive at North Turkeyfoot Road, was previously drained to provide for safer construction of the new dam. It will be allowed to refill next year after construction is completed.

In addition, soil-cement drilling continues working toward the Rosa Villa Restaurant parking lot, where the project team will tie into high ground. To complete the necessary work, the soil-cement drilling will need to cross Aqua Blvd. The Rosa Villa parking lot and Aqua Blvd. are closed temporarily until the end of 2018. Additional parking for Rosa Villa customers is available at Digital Palace and at 430 Portage Lakes Drive. Signs are at these lots for easy locating. Those who live on Aqua Blvd. can still access their homes via Durst Rd.

Work hours at the project site generally occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. Traffic patterns are to remain similar to recent weeks with occasional one-minute delays while work trucks are operating around the work areas. Construction began late last year and is expected to continue through early summer 2019.
