Cutler Lake: Concrete work commences as winter approaches

Workers remained on site and beginning the cold season with a diversity of concrete work as winter approaches. Forms are being constructed and workers will be pouring spillway and wingwall slabs, plus training walls, wingwall walls and the labyrinth weirs.

Cutler Lake: Preparation continues to ready for concrete work

Workers have been excavating and began subgrade cleaning in the area where dam improvements and a new spillway are to be constructed. This includes shaping the spillway foundation with a substance known as “dental concrete”, which typically consists of conventional concrete that is used to shape surfaces and fill irregularities as preparation prior to concrete structure pours. Construction work is to continue, weather permitting, through winter. Project completion is scheduled for Summer, 2018.

Cutler Lake: Lake level lowering continues as work begins

Workers have installed construction fencing, a temporary project sign, placed a job trailer, inspected the lake drain and established a work zone as the first phase of dam remediation begins at Blue Rock State Park. The lake sofar has been lowered five feet; target level is 13 feet below normal pool. Park visitors are reminded to stay clear of the construction zone.

Cutler Lake: Fish Removed, Lake Level Lowered As Construction Begins

ODNR has removed fish and lowered the lake level to prepare for the start of construction of improvements at Cutler Lake Dam in Blue Rock State Park. The fish were relocated to the nearby Muskingum River. The camper cabins, group camp, some campsites, and the picnic area and volleyball court on the west side of the camp store are closed for the duration of the project. All other park facilities at Blue Rock including trails, picnic areas, shelter houses and the camp store will remain open. The $4.3 million project is scheduled for completion in Summer, 2018.
