Lake White: ODNR to provide project updates at Sept. 26 meeting

Representatives from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be present at an upcoming meeting to discuss Lake White issues. The meeting, which the public is invited to attend, is being held at the Pike County Government Center, located at 230 Waverly Plaza, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26. The meeting is being hosted by the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.

Lake White: Water level drop still being analyzed; dam is safe

The dam remediation project consultant, Stantec, is performing a dye test in the lake as efforts continue to determine the cause of water movement that has prevented ODNR from operating the lake at full summer pool since dam safety improvements were completed in late April. Lake levels have remained nearly stable since ODNR lowered the lake level to winter pool in late June as a safety measure and to allow for full inspections of the earthen dam and lake levels.

Lake White: Lake levels, boat removal notice

Until the cause of the decreasing water levels at Lake White can be determined, we are encouraging everyone to remove their boats from the water.

This request is being made in order to prevent any damage that might occur to vessels as the water is intentionally lowered to investigate this unusual occurrence.

Inspections of the Lake White Dam continue to indicate that the new dam is safe and operating properly. ODNR engineers are working closely with the dam design engineers to do a complete water analysis to determine why the water levels are dropping. ODNR continues to investigate all possible options and monitor the situation. Updates will be provided as the test results become available.
